News just in: Peter Kelley wins for surgeon

March, 2012 – Attorney Peter Kelley obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a Surgeon in Norfolk Superior Court inacase alleging negligence in the performance of a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The Plaintiff alleged theDefendant physician improperly transected the patient’s common bile duct, requiring a Roux-en-Y Hepaticojejunostomy to repair the duct.  The Plaintiff contended that the alleged negligence resulted in unnecessary surgery, adhesions, permanent and debilitating abdominal pain, and risk of future bowel surgery.  After a five day trial, the jury found in favor of the Defendant.
